Building a Better Way

Christchurch, sustainable new project - interested?

My partner and I are interested in building a sustainable home in Christchurch. We would like to at least meet, or team up (possibly even to form a community project) with people to share information, find ways to reduce costs and resources, etc.
Whilst we ourselves take a scientific perspective and would like to meet those with a similar stance, we are also interested to hear other people's points of view.

Hi

I have now started a Facebook page in order to connect with other interested people and exchange ideas. The page is called Christchurch Sustainable Housing Group

Thanks,

Jane.

Hi Jane,

We are involved with Straw Bale construction and generally low embodied energy, efficient, low toxicity etc. homes.  We may be willing to get involved.  What do you have in mind at the moment?

Hey Jane, Currently working on a 200k prefabricated green building model which can be utlised throughout NZ. Passive solar and  passive ventilation are at the heart of the design + green materials.  Please email me if your interested. Duncan

Hi,

I am a former teacher looking into learning to build sustainably. If you form a community project I would like to join! :) I am currently looking to secure an apprenticeship or similar.

I live on the outskirts of Christchurch and am looking to build myself in the next three-five years. I am particularly interested in natural, unusual, beautiful structures like this:

Kiaora folks,

If you're interested in a community building exercise, we're looking for folk to help build our SHACs in Brighton as part of a PopUp Precinct.  The big build is from 25-28th October and we're looking for folk to help us make it happen.  Specifically builders or other handyfolk, but keen laborers and cup-of-tea makers are always welcome!

nga mihi
