Sustainable Habitat Challenge

Building a Better Way

Symposium

SHAC Symposium: evening of 19 to 21 November 2009, Dunedin

The Sustainable Habitat Challenge (SHAC) is proof that more sustainable living is practical today. Over the past two years, SHAC teams have worked together creating buildings, retrofits and new products to support desirable, more sustainable living. They have each taken different approaches, but their results share some common attributes – simple, adaptable designs that require fewer resources, produce less waste, are value for money and support a sustainable community. Teams involve students, professionals and the community.

Now it’s time to celebrate their achievements, and share our ideas and experiences. The SHAC Symposium is the chance to join with innovative thinkers and doers, including community housing representatives, iwi, designers, builders, engineers and architects. You will hear from leaders in sustainable systems and design. Students, tertiary staff and professionals from each SHAC team will present their vision for more sustainable living, and how their projects support these values. Plus you will have the opportunity to learn, share and consider some practical next steps for the future of sustainable building.

The SHAC Symposium is open to all who were involved in SHAC teams, as well as interested industry professionals, educators and members of the public. Please join us for an inspiring few days in Dunedin! Only $90, including Friday dinner!

Information and Bookings: Tim Bishop 0800 SHAC 09 / 021 705 346 / tim@shac.org.nz. Limited commercial space is available.
