Thanks Tim, its a really awsome site.... i hope i can make some good contacts...and keep up with whats happening. I am really interested in what can be done for communities in terms of sustainable healthy and affordable housing, and for myself too! Im still a renter in the burbs of west auckland, mainly due to work committments.....but have got some land with friends out in bethells beach and im getting interested in building a whareuku or some type of earthbuild whare....i looked at the team video from auckland uni.....so maybe i will get some more info through these contacts about doing this...?
Cheers,
Kararaina

Thanks Tim. Just starting to investigate builders. May look closer at Kyle Byers of www.solidbuilders.co.nz who appear interested in sustainable housing. Have a couple of houses in Chch of his to look at. We would probably find a suitable builder for for our house first and then go for designers/archetects after that. We are interested in some earth construction and as yet to find any houses constructed using earth around here. We have some photos of the building site if you are interested.

Hi Tim - To answer your query on my profile. I am an architect and have designed a number of straw bale and earth buildings over the years. Currently I have left full time practice in Nelson and am entering a period of research - through VUW - and teaching part time at Unitec School of Architecture.
Cheers

These are 2 photos of the building site giving an idea of the narrown ridge and the elevated aspect. One gives an aspect of a stream whech borders the ridge.

Thank you for the invite Tim. I will be arriving in New Zealand on 25th May and was hoping to attend the SB10 conference. I will be working for 3 months as an Architect in Wellington on sustainable residential design before I return to complete the final year of my Masters Degree in Architecture in the UK, where I will be specialising in Zero-Carbon Housing. Great to see all the inspiring work you have been involved with here.

Hi Tim, Thanks for that. I am currently working on a project which will see us converting an old church into a preschool in Seddon (Marlborough). I am chairman of the committee and also own a couple of my own preschools, so this could possibly be a good project, although we are looking at getting things moving in the very near future.

Hi Tim - yes I do know Dave Strachan and Rau Hoskins and will contact them. Sorry not to meet up at the sb10 conference but I did manage to hear the end of Chris Naylor's presentation.
