Building a Better Way

Tim Bishop

Team Waikato to SHAC 09 House at Waikato Home Show 1- 4 October

Keeping it so simple (KISS)

The key is good insulation moving the barriers that prevent insulation from working and using New Zealand's number 1 sustainable product Pinus Radiata in a panel system.

* The design is simple, the construction unique and simple, the materials plentiful.
* With plenty of glass to the north and little to the south, heat loss is minimal.
* With high levels of insulation in the floor, walls and ceiling.
* Venting to give comfort and take away the condensation.
* You may find that heating is a small requirement.
* Finally making this ancillary unit a gem to move when you no longer need it.
* Like all good things this takes time.

At WINTEC we like to be involved with our partners and the community. With this in mind we have gone to our partners and asked them to help us to put this project together and they have.

At the end of the project the unit is to be auctioned and all profit from this will go to Hospice Waikato. The auction will be held at 3pm on Sunday 4th October at the Home Show.

The SHaC09 is located in the Outdoor Living Court (inside Gate 1 off Brooklyn Road).
